The Scarlet Queen

The lady-in-red is the otherworldy idea of a vengeful woman. In the spirit world, the Scarlet Queen is a mere phantom, a wraith fuelled by insatiable hate and sadism. Incorporeal and fading; she is driven by sadistic tendencies akin to Countess Báthory's. The red queen seeks to fill her inner void with flesh and blood. Each and every day, the scarlet woman bathes in the lifeblood of maidens. Her wisp-like form sinks in and re-emerges filled with the red fluid. Her figure is red and shiny. She may touch things again...

This piece is likely inspired by Resident Evil Village, as I was following its release with great interest (Eastern European setting!) The Queen is methaphor for the inherent emptiness and mental immaturity of people who choose to act on destructive impulses for a short-lived satisfaction.
